v1.0.0-beta.2 of the BDiff / BPatch Utilities released

Over a year since the first beta of v1.0.0 or the BDiff / BPatch Utilities was released comes the 2nd beta.

This release imposes some sensible constraints over parameter values of commands that can be passed to the BDiff file differ. It also restricts the maximum file size that can be diffed to the largest file size supported by the binary diff file format (2GiB - 1 byte), although you may get out of memory errors if you diff files this big!

There a few other changes and fixes that can be found in the change log for this release.

I've moved from Delphi 11 to 12 for compiling this code and Delphi 12 is the minimum supported compiler version.

Multi-line String Literals Planned For Delphi 12 Yukon🤞

This blog post is based on a pre-release version of the RAD Studio software and it has been written with specific permission by Embarcadero. No feature is committed until the product GA release. The upcoming new release of RAD Studio 12 Yukon is a major update that's got a new Delphi language features that I've been wanting for years, or perhaps even decades since I first discovered heredocs in PHP. Yep, we're going to get multi-line string literals. This excites me just as much as the earlier introduction of inline var statements, which was a lot! Deleting elements from a dynamic array

In my blog " Initialising Dynamic Arrays " I mentioned I have been writing some unit tests that needed numerous repetative array initialisation operations. Well, one of the other common operations I found myself writing was the deletion of items from dynamic arrays. So I decided to find a generic way of doing this. Assuming we know the index of the item to be deleted we need the equivalent of Delphi's built-in Delete procedure for strings. If you read the previous post you won't be surprised to learn that I decided to further extend the Generics.Collections.TArray class by adding to the TArrayEx class I introduced there.
